Winter Break!

Hello!
As the first signs of snow appeared last night, I came to realize that Winter was finally upon us and that I would soon be heading home for Winter Break. I felt at ease and excited that I was going home for the first time in a little under a year and a half. However, that was also when I realized with a certain concern that finals...were also here. In fact, finals start tomorrow! The university is buzzing with the sounds of students as they are working hard to get their final projects in and studying to do well on the exams.
It has been a wonderful and productive semester here at IIT and no doubt that more excitement will come soon enough. But before that, it's time for some well deserved rest and a nice holiday with the family!
Good luck to everyone during finals and have an awesome Winter Break! For those international students staying on campus over the break, get comfy warm and enjoy skiing around in the white fluffiness of winter :D Enjoy!
I'll see you all very very soon!

Justine Bennett was at the Bog? Yep! Homecoming this week? Yep!

Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone had a nice long and relaxing weekend!
As always, many of our IIT students have been going to downtown Chicago (our "backyard playground") to enjoy the sights and sounds of the city. But here, right on campus, we've been having and will be having multiple activities going on!
Just take last Thursday for example...we had an awesome singer, Justine Bennett, come to Illinois Institute of Technology and perform at one of IIT's most prominent social areas, the BOG! Justine's angelic voice echoed gracefully throughout the BOG and her performance was simply beautiful, with a tinge of amusement in between! Simply great! Check out her website : http://justinebennett.com/

Coming up this week is...IIT HOMECOMING! I hope you guys are equipped with Scarlet Hawk gear and all ready for the excitement to come! Here's a small sneak peek:

Tuesday, Sept. 22nd: Women's Volleyball at 7:00pm in Keating Sports Center...Free T-shirts and food!

Friday, Sept. 25: Club Niite from 9:00pm to Midnight...Get ready to dancy dance in front of MSV!

Finals are Coming, but so is Summer!

Hello Everyone!
As the semester here at IIT comes to an end, finals are approaching at great speeds. Everyone is starting to review and study and make sure they hit high marks on the finals. Although everyone is tensed up about the final exams, in their minds, everyone is looking to the time beyond, SUMMER! Once everyone is done with exams, many people will be travelling back home to spend time with family and friends and enjoy the long vacation! Now still others will be staying in Chicago to enjoy the summer and/or take a few extra summer classes to lighten up the load for next semester. IIT will be offering multiple courses throughout the summer for people who are interested, as well as internships in diverse fields of study.

Now here at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the staff will be busy planning for the welcoming of our Fall 2009 students as well as helping these students arrive safely and happily to IIT. The Office of Undergraduate Admission will be open during Summer, so if you wish to visit us to talk to an Admission Counselor or want to go on a campus tour or you just want to see us for the fun of it, we'll be here!

All in all, everyone's going to be making this summer a productive and very memorable experience!

For the current students: study hard! And for future students: Welcome to IIT!

Have a great one everyone!

Take a closer look at IIT!

Hello Everyone!
How's everyone doing? I'm back with some more IIT info!
This past Friday and Saturday we had Preview Weekend! Admitted students and their families arrived to IIT from across the United States this past Friday and visited the campus throughout the day. Students and their families got the chance to talk with the Admission Counselors at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and with the Student Ambassadors and current students that were around. These visiting students got the chance to take a closer look by going on campus tours lead by the Student Ambassadors! Lunch and Dinner were provided and nightly events were fully on. The Fraternity and Sorority houses organized multiple events and the Bog was open for people to relax and enjoy the exciting IIT atmosphere!
Applications for the Fall 2009 term are due soon, so for those of you who are still undecided, call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and sign up for a campus tour and schedule a meeting with an Admission Counselor! If you are unable to come to campus, that's alright too, just contact the Office for any doubts you might have! The website where all the info is located at is: admission.iit.edu .
Come join the IIT family!

Hey Hey! Hey Spring!

Hello Everyone!
How's everyone doing? Still waking up from the awesome Spring Break we just had? Well, hey, wake up cause spring's here and the summer fun at IIT is not far away!

I don't know about you guys, but I had an awesome break: a time to rest well and enjoy life. But the reason why I truly had an awesome Spring Break was because my parents came to visit all the way from Bolivia! You know how far that is?...It's far! I was so excited to show them around IIT and take them to downtown Chicago. We went to Lincoln Park Zoo, strolled in the park where the Shed Aquarium and the Planetarium are located, and enjoyed the endless blue view of Lake Michigan from Navy Pier. We even got to see the green color Chicago River turned into for St. Patrick's Day!
This Spring Break has definitely been relaxing, but at the same time I got to share fabulous moments with my family! Cool Cool!

Although Spring Break is over, don't worry, there are still tons of events coming up here at IIT, Preview Weekend being one of them! More details to come soon! Stay tuned and get ready to rock with IIT!

Think Pink!

Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone's doing amazingly well cause here at IIT we have been all pumped and excited for last Friday's Think Pink Women's Basketball Game! Not only was the Think Pink game a way to approach Breast Cancer awareness, but it also resulted in one of the semester's best basketball games ever! IIT won 74-70 against Taylor University Fort Wayne after what seemed to be a close and intense battle between the two universities. The crowd went crazy with excitement with everyone wearing the intensely pink t-shirts. Go Scarlet Hawks!
Well, everyone take care and Think Pink too! And for the people in Chicago, stay warm!

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Hello to all of those Chinese people out there! Wish you had a great New Year, the year of the Ox (as my friend Rishab is showing with the Golden Chinese Ox)!

I'm sure that all of you called home and wished your family an awesome New Year, like me!
For New Year last Saturday, a bunch of Chinese IIT students got together and headed over to Chinatown for dinner. It was an awesome get-together and I actually got to meet new Chinese students that had some cool backgrounds! It was an awesome night with great Chinese food and everyone enjoyed it. It felt just like home, only here in Chicago!
Here at IIT, students like to celebrate different holidays together. Being so far from home, it is always great to have people to relate to, have fun with, and speak the same language too!!! Once again 新年块乐!!!

Join the Diversiity at IIT!

(Thanks to Kurt and Jack for organizing this fabulous Chinese New Year night!)

IIT Spring 2009!!!

Hello Hello!
Ladies and gentlemen I apologize for my long absence, I was taking a rather long vacation in China! It was an awesome trip, I got the chance to visit my family and enjoyed lots of good chopstick-licking Chinese food!
Now I'm back at IIT ready for some more work (and ready to exercise a bit due to all the food, but that's another story)!
IIT will soon be starting its 2009 Spring Semester with much enthusiasm and excitement. The faculty at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions has been working hard to admit new students this spring as well as reviewing files for future Fall 2009 students.
For those of you who are applying for Fall 2009, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be reviewing your applications as soon as they come in. Make sure you send in your applications and the required files as soon as possible and before the deadline! (Please check the IIT Office of Undergraduate Admissions website for more details: http://www.iit.edu/undergrad_admission/ or contact the Office at 312.567.3025 or email in at admission@iit.edu). Please do not hesitate to call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for any questions or concerns you might have, because the people working there are awesomely cool and will take their time to answer them!
Now as for the weather, I've been hearing lots of concerns about the weather from friends and people that have been coming back to Chicago, so as a new student you might be wondering about the weather as well. I'm sorry to say that Chicago has been receiving quite a lot of snow and chills lately, but hey, not to worry! The weather's got its ups and downs, in other words it's not like super cold all the time. I mean it's easily manageable with an extra layer on or running around the campus playing with snow will work too. Besides, all the buildings are heated, so it's pretty warm inside. I'm telling you this from my own experience, taking into account that I have never experienced temperatures below 0°C (32°F) and I'm doing just fine, Undergraduate Admissions hasn't found me frozen yet.

IIT students, welcome back and new IIT students, you'll do just fine, and welcome too!
I wish everyone a successful semester and I'll keep you posted!
